How to create a love of learning + support your child!

Children often perceive school and learning as boring - something they are forced to do. And it shouldn't be so...

It's important to realize that you are your child’s first and most important role model.

If they can see that you are yearning to learn more about something, they will be more willing to explore their own interests and passions.

So how can this be done?

1. Read, read, read and read some more...

Reading is important because it develops the mind.

Understanding the written word is one way the mind grows in its ability.

Teaching young children to read helps them develop their language skills.

But most importantly, it  helps them learn to listen!! Aha!

2. Share your interests and passions!

Get them a library card and let them explore the many books and topics libraries have to offer.

Take them to the zoo, museums, music concerts or the theater.

3. Be supportive and encouraging.

Encourage your child to always do their best, and let them know that their best will always be good enough. If your expectations are too high, their love of learning will diminish, making their marks even worse.

  • Encourage even the smallest effort. ...
  • Ignore the wrong and applaud the right. ...
  • Look for outwardly demonstrable ways to encourage a person. ...
  • Reject negative responses. ...
  • Make positive comments. Even better, write them down fro you child ...

And lastly... children need attention. Make sure that you notice when he/she does something good.

Here are phrases are ways to tell someone to keep trying:

  2. Don't give up.
  3. Keep pushing.
  4. Keep fighting!
